Good bye 14 welcome 15

Blooms and bangs marked the exit of 2014 and entry of 2015 at the stork of mid night hour on Wednesday when defying the chill, people in large number came out of their homes bursting fire crackers to welcome the new year.

People in urban and rural areas alike had celebrated the 31st December with music and late night party. Some others spend the night sitting riveted on their television sets on the occasion.

Cultural programmes are in progress in some places across the state to celebrate the event. Temples are getting a fresh look to facilitate the devotees who are thronging for puja offerings on Thursday.

Kamakhya temple along with Assam State Zoo, Regional Science Museum, Sradhranjali Kanon, Umananda Temple, Basistha temple have dressed afresh on the occasion in Guwahati.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi wished the people a happy new year. The Assam Times House also wishes its visitors and well wishers a happy new year.
