ULFA’s anti-talk faction threatens to target NHPC if it resumes the mega dam construction at Gerukamukh. In a statement, the militant outfit’s vice president Paresh Asom said that they would not allow anybody to build mega dams in future.
According to ULFA-I, the Gerukamukh project would not help Assam and instead it would have adverse impact in the downstream areas. It said it would support the dams only suggested by the experts.
ULFA-I’s reaction came a day after the Centre and the anti-dam protesters agreed to set up an 8 member panel of experts to study the entire issue.
