3 dead, 14 hurt in Jhanji mishap

Three persons died and fifteen others sustained serious injury at tragic road mishap in Sivasagar district on Wednesday.

The mishap took place at Phulpanichiga near Jhani on the National Highway No 37 early in the mornig when a vehicle carrying a wedding party slipped into the roadside field after it hit a tree when the driver lost his control over it.

Local residents who came to the rescue in the wee hours blamed dense fogs for poor visibility. The injured are battling for life in the Sivasagar Civil Hospital. A few others has been shifted to the Assam Medical College Hospital in Dibrugarh.
