Quarrel over a chair; leader suspended

The Margherita unit of BJP has suspended its president Bhim Karmakar for 5 days in connection with the recent acrimonious situation at a party function in Tinsukia.

Party insiders told Assam Times that Karmakar was allegedly involved in the scuffle that took place at the function attended by Siddhartha Bhattacharya where the party workers tried to be flanked by the State president on November 16.

Assam Jatiyotabadi Yuva Chattra Parishad in Margherita raided a number of wine shops in the entire sub division on Sunday. They blamed it all on the excise department for allowing mushrooming of illegal wine shops in Margherita.
