Union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal is surprised to see very less utilization of funds claiming that she ensured 50% utilization only after she took over as the minister at the Centre.
In an interactive session in Guwahati hosted by Indian Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, she called on the entrepreneurship to make maximum use National Mission on Food Processing in the state.
She said, ‘Mega Food Park is conceptualized to have all common infrastructures of a food processing industry under a hub like the North East Mega Food park in Tihu. “Our Government plans to set up food park in all the districts in next five years,” she said.
According to her, ”production has a very huge and national and international market today and only North East India has the potential to meet this demand through organised production.”
Earlier, she had a meeting with State Mission Directors of the North Eastern Region on the progress of the projects under NMPI. J P Meena Additional Secretary MoFPI addressed and made a detailed presentation on NMPI schemes for North East.
Sanjay Budhia past president ICC gave the welcome address and Ms. Reedhima Thackkar Chairperson of Ago and Food Committee gave the key note address.
