Three arrested

Security forces arrested three persons along with arms from various places in the district of Kokrajhar in the last 24-hours.

Getting on a tiptop information security forces belonging to police and army apprehended two persons along with arms from Cithila bazar under Fakiragram police station on Monday evening when they were on way to Gossaigaon from Kokrajhar.

The arrested were identified as Saidul Mandal of Bandarchara of Basugaon in Chirang and Anowar Ali of Baruapara Kutamari of Kokrajhar and were involved with arms dealing in the district.

A pistol,magazine,two country hand made gun were  recovered from them.

In another incident, Kokrajhar police asrrested a extortinist at Chandamari area under Kokrajhar police station late last evening.

The arrested was identified as Mewai Basumatary alias Manaj of Athiabari Tinali of Serfanguri police station and was arrested at Chandamari while coming to take extortion demand from Dotma.

A pistol,five live bullets,a mobile handset was recovered from him,said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.

Tribal organisation oppose ST status to six communities

Candle light by ABSU

Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Madhav Prasad Sarma laid the foundation of Children Study Hall cum Mini Digital Library at Destination Girls’ Home, Anthaigwlao Chandrapara in Kokrjahar on Friday to mark the celebration of State Child Protection Day. The All Bodo Students Union and All Assam Students Union strongly slammed the answer script of HSLC examination gutted fire in Jorhat on Friday.  Lawrence Islary, general secretary of ABSU condemned the answer script paper gutted in fire was unfortunate and unwanted for the state. Bengali federation burn effigy

Students activists from All BTC Bengali Youth Students Federation show their protest and burnt effigy of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in protest against his recent derogatory remakrs on Hindu Bengali community in the state. The Salakkati anchalik committee of students federation shouted slogans against Gogoi and burnt his effigy along the Salkati bazar road in Kokrajhar today and demanded eraly apolozize to the remarks. Former Rajya Sabha MP and UPP president Urkhao Gwra Brahma  expressed his deep sorrow over demise of PA Sangma,former Lok Sabha Speaker and Tura Lok Sabha MP. Brahma,in his codolence message said that the country has lost a great with his(Sangma) dead.He  was one of the most prominent and influential political leader in the country,who was representing Tura Lok Sabha constituency till his death.Brahma extended deep condolence to the departed soul of PA Sangma.
