Jehadi: Gogoi seeks Modi’s help

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi urges the Centre to help him firmly deal with the al Qaida elements which are believed to have been spreading terror tentacles.

Gogoi sought the Centre’s help when he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday where he disclosed that some operatives having links with Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen in Bangladesh were recently arrested in the state.

In his memorandum handed over to Modi, Gogoi said “ it is important that more sophisticated mesasures ought to be taken to check, contain and curb such organisations and their activities through proper intelligence sharing and surveillance.”

Border row with Nagaland and fund for process of updating the National Register of Citizens within the stipulated time, flood and erosion and river management Inland Water Transport sector also found place in the memorandum.
