A two day long political convention gets underway in Guwahati on Tuesday is expected to refurbish the image of the Asom Gana Parishad which faced defeats in the last couple of Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
Noted litterateur and journalist Hoomen Borgohain opened the first session at Machkhowa ITA Centre at 2-30 in the afternoon where the speakers after speakers outlined the importance of regionalism.
On Wednesday, noted intellectual Dr Hiren Gohain is scheduled to open the session at 10 in the morning where the party will expect an action plan to revive the party.
Former Asom Sahitya Sabha president and Agradoot Editor Kanaksen Deka will open the third and last session at 3 in the afternoon seeking suggestions from the people, party and organizations revive the party.
The party leaders have already invited over 500 guests to this convention a year ahead of the 2016 assembly polls.
