Sankardev birth anniversary is being organized with cultural procession, seminar of the saint and staging of bhaonas across the state from Friday. The disciples of the saint Sankardeva in Guwahati also took out clourful cultural procession on Friday and Saturday on the occasion. Our Majuli Correspondent adds: Durga puja festivity hardly grips in Majuli. But the river island is in the deep grip of the traditional religious fervor of the Sankardev anniversary. The premier seat of Vaishnavite cultural is celebrating the saint’s birth anniversary with much pomp and gaiety. Cultural procession, seminars and bhaonas are lined up on the occasion. Our Barpeta correspondent adds: In Bhawanipur also, the three day long Sankrdev birth anniversary is underway at the Na-aati Namghar. Thousands of the people participated in the cultural procession on Friday followed by open meeting and staging Bhaonas.

9 Assam Workers Killed in Ennore Power Plant Mishap

A devastating accident at the Ennore Thermal Power construction site in Tamil Nadu claimed the lives of nine workers from Assam and nearby regions on Tuesday, after a steel arch collapsed.
