 The Assam government has come in for sharp criticism when the Assam assembly is discussing the sensational Priya Basumatary killing case in Chirang district.

One after another Oppostion party members slammed the government alleging failure to ensure safety and security for the common people where armed militants can dreg a school girl out of her house to be killed on camera.

 The government on Monday agreed for discussion on the floor after the Opposition slammed it alleging failure to ensure safety and security of the people., Speaker Pranab Gogoi assured the Opposition that the House would take up the issue on Tuesday.

As soon as the question hour began, Bodo People’s Front (BPF) legislator Pramila Rani Brahma raised the issue to be backed by the entire opposition parties.

Brahma rushed to the well of the House and wanted the Speaker to hold back all other matter and discuss the issue.

Opposition members accused the government of using school students as police informers, and wanted to know why the police failed to recover the girl’s body which was ultimately recovered by villagers to be handed over to police in another village several kilometers from Dwimuguri, where the girl was killed.  /

Ayush healthcare system to train rural youths

The Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Rural Development have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop skilled manpower for the Ayush healthcare system. The agreement aims to enable rural youth to become a skilled workforce in the sector.
