CM orders probe against Chirang police

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday announced a thorough probe into the allegations of police inaction in the Priya Basumatary killing case six days back.

According to allegation, while Priya was killed on August 20 afternoon, the police never went to Dwimuguri along the Indo-Bhutan border where the murder took place.

Only the villagers recovered her body next day and handed it over to the police at Salbari. Gogoi said that Priya was not a police informer.
