Assam by poll on Sept 13

The Election Commission has announced the schedule of the by polls in Janunamukh, Silchar and Lakhipur.

The last date for filing nominations in the three assembly constituencies is August 27.

Scrutiny will take place on August 28 while the last date for withdrawal of nomination is August 29.

The polling will take place from 7 in the morning till 5 in the afternoon on September 13. The counting will be held on September 16.

By polling in Silchar was required following the election of Sushmita Dev to the Lok Sabha while Lakhipur will go to the polls following the expiry of MLA Dinesh Prasad Gowala.
