A CBI team probing the multi crore Sharada scam raided a private satellite news channel in Guwahati on Thursday.
CBI sleuths arrived in the Focus NE office premises in the afternoon and conducted the raid in connection with the multi crore scam.
It was alleged that former Union minister Matang Sinh who owns the news channel cheated the Sharada chairman Sudipta Sen. Sinh, who was grilled by the enforcement directorate two times in Kolkata borrowed money to the tune of crore of rupees which is yet to be returned.
Another CBI team on Thursday sealed Frontier TV owner Manoranjana Gupta’s residence in Guwahati which was also accused of cheating the Sharada chief.
Gupta, the estrange wife of Matang Sinh took several crores of rupees from Sudipta Sen to run the Frontier TV. Later, Sen severed his alliance with Gupta. The enforcement directorate has already grilled her in this connection.
The country’s premier investigation team is likely to quiz a section of ministers, MLAs and businessmen in this connection.
