Acute Encephalitis Syndrome and Japanese Encephalitis continue to wreak havoc 305 lives in the state this year itself.
Talking to Assam Times, health department officials said that the vector-borne Acute Encephalitis Syndrome alone has claimed 212 lives.
On the other hand, the death toll in the Japanese Encephalitis outbreak has reached 93 this year.
There has been sharp rise in the number of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome cases. As of now, 1,286 people have been suffering from Acute Encephalitis Syndrome and Japanese encephalitis.
The worst hit districts in Lower Assam were Sonitpur, Barpeta, Nalbari, Darrang, Kamrup (Rural) and Kamrup (Metro), while in the Upper Assam Tinsukia, North Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji and Golaghat. /
