The Centre will resume the Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Project only after consultations with the people of Assam.
This was what Union minister of state for power Piyush Goel told Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Youth Affairs and Sports Subanshiri Sarbanda Sonowal.
No Construction will be undertaken till the matter is sorted out. Goyal informed it to Sonowal when the state BJP president met in New Delhi on Saturday and apprised him of the concern of the people of Assam relating to the Subansiri Hydroelectric project.
During their discussion, Goyal told Sonowal that a meeting of various stake holders will be called shortly to discuss their concerns along with experts in this field.

Governor J B Patnaik said that the government's counter insurgency operations have fetched dividends where the republic day boycott call was defied. In his address after unfurling the national flag in Khanapara in Guwahati, he said that steps are being taken to bring about overall socio-economic development in the state.
He said that the government is leaving no stone unturned to put Assam on a track of rapid development process. Patnaik also said that government was committed to fighting corruption.

Normal situation prevailed on Republic Day on Saturday. Trains and air services operated as usual though long distance and city private buses kept off the roads as the transport operators gave holiday to their staff on account of R-Day. National flags were seen fluttering in banks, educational institutions, etc., remained closed. Buses, private taxis and autorickshaws of state-run Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) plied as usual. Defying militant diktat, Republic Day was celebrated across the stat with much fanfare and cultural extravaganza. A powerful Improvised Explosive Devices was recovered ahead of the Republic Day celebrations in Darrang district on Thursday.The bomb was found near the Mangaldoi police station and Republic Day parade ground in the morning. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi said that the Army court had taken a lenient view of the crime. He told reporters in Jorhat that he would urge the defence ministry to review the case to ensure proper justice to the 19-year-old victim. According to Gogoi, the army court has been insensitive to the seriousness of the crime and has taken a lenient view.He said that imprisonment for only three months is far less than the heinous crime committed by the armyman.
