RMC will contest BTC election

The Religious Minority Council (RMC), BTC Region on Sunday said that they would contest the next BTC election scheduled next year by putting candidates in 10 constituencies - five are open for all and five are reserved for general.

Speaking the Reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club, Sohrab Khan, president of RMC said the Minority Council will put its own candidate as well support likeminded candidates in the council election slated to be held in next year as the minority has not been meeting any developmental spirits in the region.

He said that the Minority Council extended support to the BPF in council administration, yet the community did not get required facilities, hence this time the  minority council decided to put own candidates in the council elections which are figures majority populations in the region. The constituencies which may be put candidates from minority council includes Mudwibari, Matonguri, Fakiragram, Guma, Turibari, Dihira etc.  

He said the minority council will not be involving with any party while working for community as it had created bad impression in the last election of working behind for ruling BPF party. He has alleged that 2012 riot affected peoples were not given full compensation till today. He demanded the government to fulfilled compensation announced to the affected peoples. He also urged the BTC administration to take bold step to provide compensation Rs 2 lakhs each of massacre at Balapara in Kokrajhar and Narayanguri in Baksa in May last in the BTAD. Khan has also demanded 30 percent facilities in all aspects like development, administrations in the region so that the minority community enjoy the facilities and can held healthy communication among society.

A cabinet meeting of the RMC was held on Sunday with Sohrab Khan, president the RMC in the chair and discussed various issues of the community and adopted several resolutions regarding holdings of Nagarik meeting, reshuffling of district committees under BTC region etc.
