Huge cache of arms seized in Hamren

Karbi Anglong police recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition during a combing operation against UPLA inside a dense jungle on Wednesday.

These include 6 AK-47 rifles, 21 grenades, a pistol along with many other ammunitions-- --seized from Nawang area in the district bordering Meghalaya.

According to information, the UPLA militants managed to escape from the inaccessable jungle where they have been camping for the last couple of months.

Police claimed to have achieved this success a day afte they arrested the UPLA militants responsible for killing of Hamren SP Nityananda Goswami and his PSO Ratul Nunisa.

Assam police and Nagaland police launched the combing operation a week after the incident.
