Gogoi to quit before Sonia
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi is all set to seek Sonia Gandhi's permission to quit a week after poll debacle. But AICC sources told Assam Times that the Congress president is unlikely to accept the move. Talking to reporters on Wednesday evening at the Assam Bhawan premises he confimed his decision. Three of his trusted cabinet colleagues Pradyut Bordoloi, Rockybul Hussain, Nilomoni Sendeka and Anjan Dutta are set to call on Gandhi to urge her not to accept the move. On the other hand, MLAs Piyush Hazarika,Jayantamalla Barua and Rekibuddin Ahmed on Wednesday sent a memoramdum to Sonia Gandhi through Ahmed Patel requesting to accept Gogoi's resignation. The dissident camp has claimed to have received the support of 45 MLAs seeking change in leadership.
