In yet another setback for the state’s health sector, the Medical Council of India has rejected a move to increase the seats in PG courses in the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.
Sources told Assam Times that the GMCH authorities were in a process to increase post graduate seats by 17.
But the MCI has rejected the move citing poor infrascture of the north east’s premier medical institute.
MCI has already cancelled the recognition of Jorhat Medical Colllege Hospital and Barpeta Medical College Hospital citing the same ground.
Same it is likely to happen in the Tezpur Medical College Hospital where the team is set to visit in a day or two.
