Another body found in Beki

Yet another body was fished out from the Beki river in Baksa district on Friday.

Local residents in Narayanguri spotted the body of a minor boy in the morning and fished out it from the river.

With this, the BTAD toll has gone up to 43. Nine others are still missing. The SDRF search operation has not been able to recover more bodies.

A section of cow thieves has been unleashing terror in Barpeta district these days.Cow theft has been a normal case in Bajali and Bhawanipur areas in the lower Assam district. Police on Wednesday caught four such thieves and seized 7 cows from their possession.The thieves and cows were picked up from a Bolero pick up van bearing No AS-01-DC-0992 in Bhawanipur.An irate mob caught the thieves and assaulted them along with their relatives before handing over to police.Police resorted to lathicharge to bring the situation under control.
