The Bornijora polling booth presiding officer Paresh Hazarika fell critically ill hours after he was remanded to judicial custody on Sunday.
Hazarika fell on the ground as soon as he along with five other persons arrested in connection with the vote rigging were brought to the jail in the evening.
Hazarika was rushed to the hospital where his condition is said to be critical.
He along with four other polling officers and a VDP member were arrested by the Baihata police on Saturday morning and on Sunday the Rangia sub-divisional magistrate remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
