Despite a 40 degree Celsius temperature, polling has ended in Mongoldoi with a heavy turn out of voters on Thursday.
The polling formally closed at 5 in the evening. But voters were seen standing in long queues in front of the polling stations till 6.to cast their votes.
Enthusiasm was noticed among the first time voters in the 18-21 years age group as they lined up in large numbers in 1852 polling booths to decide the fate of 12 candidates. Now all eyes are fixed on May 16.
BJP candidate and sitting MP Ramen Deka is pitted against his Congress rival Kirip Chaliha while AGP candidate and former Congress MP Madhab Rajbanshi has a considerable supporters who is contesting as AGP candidate.
