Bus accident sends shockwaves
Five of the 12 bodies of those left dead in the Sonapur incident on Sunday wee hours have been identified and handed over to their relatives at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital campus after postmortem. Five of these bodies were identified and accordingly handed over their relatives. The relatives of these victims broke down as the bodies reached the Hospital campus for postmortem. The five dead bodies have been identified are Pradip Konwar, who was pursuing PGDCA course at Epitom, from Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district; Sushil Ranjan Ghose, manager with the Guwahati based Sri Gautom Construction Company from Bilasipara; Indranil Chakravartty of Silchar who works with the Panbazar based North East Chemical Corporation representative; Cotton College Post Graduate student Ripunath Tai; Manoj Bharati, a serviceman of Arunachal Pradesh irrigation and flood control department with his asscociate PR Bharati. Besides, Bikash Baishya from Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, Jyoti Saikia from Jonaki Nagar in Silapathar. But these have yet to be officially confirmed.

Pradip Konwar, younger son of teacher Prafulla Konwar and Pratima Dutta Konwar of Gaurisagar was back to Guwahati from Narayanpur. Pradip and his brother Madhurya have been staying in the city for the last one year

The three people found alive from the accident site are assistants of the bus namely Lokbahadur Chetri, Amal Das and Babul Kalita. Babul was released after primary treatment while the two others have been rushed to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Another driver Anil Sarma has been missing.
