There seems to be no respite from the soaring mercury level on Thursday much to the utter disappointment of poll candidates in six Lok Sabha constituencies where polling is underway.
The Regional Meteorology Centre in Guwahati has blamed it all on the dry westerly winds that blows from the Gangetic plains in the lower atmosphere. The weathermen have further ruled out any possibility of rainfall in the next couple of days.
But the poll candidates are worried a lot. The rising mercury level is likely to be a dampener for them which could force the voters to remain confined to their houses.
The frequent power cuts another major cause of concern for the candidate where the ruling party is likely to pay the heavy price.
Over 94 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise on Thursday to decide the fate of 74 candidates are in this last and final phase in Dhubri, Nagaon, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Guwahati and Mangaldoi.
