Jahedul Islam and Kiranjit Kaur scripted first in hill trek

Jahedul Islam of  Kamrup(Assam) and Kiranjit Kaur of Punjab were announced as first position in both men and women category of hill trekking competition in the ongoing Second Bbaukhungri Festival being held at Harinaguri Baukhungri Hill in Kokrajhar district of Assam.

The Baukhungri festival has been organized by BTC administration and was started from April 11 and concluding tomorrow.

In the men category hill trekking competition, Jahedul Islam completed his trekking in 28.16 minutes and scripted first position. Bikash Kumar of Haryana completed in 28.36 minutes while Mubarak Hussein of Kamrup(Assam) completed in 30.04 minutes and adjusted second and third position respectively. In the women category, Kiranjit Kaur of Punjab completed her trekking in 35.35 minutes and scripted first position while Mina Bordoloi of Morigaon(Assam)  reached her goal in 39.42 minutes and Baijyanti Pather of Morigaon(Assam) reached her trekking goal  in 40.57 minutes and adjusted second and third position respectively. The first position holders of  both category will be awarded rupees one lakh each, second  will get Rupees 50 thousand each while third would be given rupees 25 thousand each at a closing ceremony function on Monday.

The festival saw huge visitors from various parts of the state and neighboring country Bhutan. There was also organized a ethnic food festival where peoples took taste of the ethnic foods.
