Despite KPLT diktat, people in large numbers attended poll rallies in Karbi Anglong district. Congress candidate Biren Singh Ingty is facing a keen contest with his one time colleague Joiram Englang who is contesting with BJP ticket this time. The Karbi Peoples' Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militant outfit had called for an indefinite bandh since April 8 in the Karbi Anglong district under Autonomous District (ST) demanding immediate creation of a separate autonomous state.
