8 died after mushroom consumption

Eights persons died and over ten others have taken ill after they consumed mushroom in five parts of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Sivasagar district on Tuesday.

All they were rushed to the Assam Medical College Hospital in Dibrugarh three days back.

The deceased were identified as Aarti Buragohain and Rupali Gogoi from Digboi, Anjali Durga and Leba Sashi from Namdang in Margherita, Dulima Majhi, Satu Kormakar and Manjuri Goria from Moran in Sivasagar district.  

Apart from the over ten others, including 3 of a family, have been undergoing treatment at the AMCH.

Relatives of the victims from Margherita told Assam Times that they collected mushroom from the nearby jungles.

They were taken ill hours after they consumed the mushroom.
