The campaigning for the first phase of Lok Sabha election slated for Monday ended as soon as the clock struck at 4 in the afternoon.
The voting will take place from 7 in the morning in 8,588 booths.
The first phase covers Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Tezpur, Koliabor and Jorhat where 51 candidates are trying their lucks.
The campaigning gathered its momentum with heavyweight holding huge rallies across the state.
They include Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, state Congress chief Bhubaneswar Kalita, Asom Gana Parishad chief Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, All-India United Democratic Front leader Badruddin Ajmal and BJP candidate from Lakhimpur Sarbananda Sonowal. Altogether 51 will try their lucks in this phase for five seats.
