EC raid at hotel with BK Handique

The Election Commission seems to have stepped up efforts to enforce model code of conduction for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Flying squads on Saturday suddenly conducted a raid at a hotel in Sivasagar town where Jorhat Congress candidate Biojoy Krishna Handique had a meeting with a few party men.

But Handique said that he was holding a party meeting inside the hotel and the flying squad found nothing to incriminating materials to be seized.

The raid was conducted hours after Handique distributed money to a section of tea community leaders. But the money in cash was removed minutes before the flying squads arrived in the hotel.
