Prime minister’s clarion call

Prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh said the ten year long wonderful performance of the UPA government and the Tarun Gogoi government in Dispur would be the key to the victory of the ruling party in the general elections in Assam.

In his address at a huge poll rally to campaign for BK Handique and Pawan Singh Ghatowar at Mahmara in Sivasagar on Saturday, Dr Singh said that the Congress led government has delivered the goods almost on all fronts.

He said that his government, if allowed to retain power, would take strong measures to rein in the price line.

According to the prime minister the north east has immense potential for sustainable development and that a stable Congress government is required to tap these potentials.

Notably, this is Dr Singh’s last visit to his second home state as prime minister. Dr Singh, who represents Assam in parliament would not be the prime minister if the Congress forms new government at the Centre.
