Waiting for Rahul Gandhi

Amid a massive security arrangement, people thronging in thousands in Biswanath Chariali to attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally on Monday.

Security forces are fanning across the district to thwart any move by NDFB-S militants to disrupt Gandhi’s poll rally to campaign for Tezpur party candidate Bhupen Bora.

Senior party leaders told Assam Times that security forces are guarding hundreds of buses deployed by the party to ferry people to the rally at the Kamala Kanta Khetra.

Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Tezpur at 11 in the morning. Then he would straightly leave for Biswanath Charilai to hold the rally. He would fly to Dibrugarh at 1-30 in the afternoon.      

Massive security arrangement is required in the entire district in view of NDFB-S militants’ 12 hour bandh to oppose Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

Rahul's rally in Assam is equally important. He has been strength of congress party and he has given its party a breakthrough. His efforts were transformed into actions.

One can see that Rahul Gandhi's popularity is rising day by day. He is very much popular among the young generation and also among the people at the grassroot level. He is putting good efforts in reaching out to people.

Gogoi meets Sonia in Delhi

Crippling dissidence in Congress finally reached party high command. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday morning at the latter’s 10th Janpath residence. CBI nabs BRO official

A CBI team arrested a BRO official and seized Rs 15 lakh in cash from him in Guwahati on Wednesday.CBI picked up task Force Commandant Ram Milan was arrested from the Guwahati railway station. 1 killed in Majuli mishap

Boat mishap: 2 killed

Two persons died when a vegetable boat met with a tragic mishap on the river Brahmaputra in Kamrup district on Sunday.It took place in the afternoon when the boat was on its way from Rani Chapori to Garal. There were three persons when the boat met with the tragic mishap because of a severe dust storm. One of them managed to escape death. Two others died and the bodies were fished out on Monday morning by NDRF personnel. 

Dissident MLAs in New Delhi

Five dissident Congress MLAs are camping in New Delhi to meet party president Sonia Gandhi. Led by former MP Kirip Chaliha, they are reportedly waiting to call on Gandhi’s political adviser Ahmed Patel on Monday to air their grievances. APCC reiterates gag order

Amid intensified dissidence, APCC on Sunday asked party legislators and leaders not to air any grievances before the media. Sarma dares CM on tobacco bill

The war of words between Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma takes an interesting turn on Sunday. Dr Sarma virtually dared Gogoi to substantiate the allegations that he was averse to bring the anti-tobacco legislation citing revenue loss. The Chief Minister on Saturday said that he was told that the state would incur revenue loss if a legislation is brought to ban gutkha.
