Rapid deforestation seems to have put the wild animals in danger. Local residents in Guwahati caught a deer from the human habitaton Wednesday. The deer was spotted in Noonmati area by a section of local residents after it sneaked into the human habitat in the morning. A hardcore ULFAman died in an encounter with security forces in Goalpara district on Wednesday. The encounter took place along the Assam-Meghalaya border in the wee hours.According to information, security forces launched a combing operation acting on a tip off that a group of hardcore ULFAmen was hiding in the area. The man died on the spot. The encounter took place day after police arrested an ULFA-linkman.
