Its yet another blow for AIUDF. Dr Pervez Ali Ahmed has joined TMC to contest from Barpeta. That too a day after the AUIDF announced his name as a candidate from Silchar.
According to information, Ahmed the son of former President Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed is set to be fielded in Barpeta constituency to face Phani Bhushan Chaudhry from AGP, Chandra Mohan Chudhury from BJP, sitting MP Ismile Hussain and Chirajuddin Ajmal from AIUDF.
The development takes place after another leader and strong contender for Silchar BK Nath resigned from the party.
The top contender for Silchar seat resigned from the party immediately after Dr Pervez Ahmed Ali was fielded from Silchar in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
