Training on RTI and PIL concludes
North East Diocesan Social Service Society has organised two days capacity building programme under SHELTER project on March 11-12. This programme is a part of capacity building programme under SHELTER project which is supported by Indo Global Social Service Society. Training was on Right to Information Act and how RTI Act can be used to seek information from various government departments. Ranjan K Baruah of North East Youth Foundation facilitated the training programme and shared his experiences and other case studies related to RTI Act. He had mentioned in details how the act has evolved and what are the processes to seek information from various government departments. He has appealed to participant to prepare well when they work with community and seek information as most of the corrupted officials or businessperson try to disturb activist who seek information through RTI Act. The other sessions includes Public Interest Litigation, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and Food security Act 2013 and was facilitated by Saito Basumatary . This two day training programme was inaugurated by Fr Varghese Velickakam, Director of NEDSSS. Participants were from project partners associated with SHELTER projects spread in different parts of the region.
