Barring Mongoldoi, Nagaon and Dhubri, AICC has finalized the list of the candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
This was what chief minister Tarun Gogoi told reporters in New Delhi on Saturday. Gogoi talked to Rockybul Hussian in the capital a day after the forest minister refused to contest in the polls.
Sources told Asssam Times that Union ministers Pawan Singh Ghatowar and Ranee Narah will contest from Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur respectively.
Gaurav Gogoi will be the INC candidate from Koliabor iren Singh Engti will contest from Diphu. The party has fielded Jonjunali Baruah from Nagaon.
Sushmita Dev will contest from Silchar and Bhupen Bora from Tezpur. Despite resistance from a circle of dissident leaders, Bijoy Krishna Handique has been finalized in Jorhat. Lolit Mhan Suklavaidya will contest from Karimganj the party has cleared the name of Ismile Hussain in Barpeta constituency for the upcoming polls.
The ruling party will not field any candidate on Kokrajhar in view of the pre poll tie up with Bodoland Peoples’ Party (BPF).
