Thousands pay last respect to Tarun Gogoi

Guwahati: The Guwahati-Shillong from Bhangagarh to Dispur broke into a sea of humanity when the mortal remains of Tarun Gogoi was taken out from Guwahati Medical College Hospital where the former Chief Minister died of post COVID19 complications.

Led by his son and MP Gaurav Gogoi took the lead of the team carrying the body of the 3 time Chief Minister at a vehicle bedecked with flowers. 

Thousands of his fans kept waiting to see the last ride of the Peoples 'leader on both sides of the busy GS Road. Many of his fans threw petals to the vehicles as it carried the body inside a coffin. 

Firstly,  the body was taken to the official residence at Disputes where his family members performed some religious formalities.

Then it was taken to the state secretariat where the employees paid their last respect and then at the Rajiv Bhawan to pay last respect by the party men. It would be kept at the Shankardev Kalakhetra from the evening and the cremation will take place on

Thursday and the venue has yet to be finalised.
