National Science Day observed in Golaghat

Golaghat,  Feb 28: Under the aegis of Assam Science Society of Branch,  74 Assam Girls (I) Coy NCC and Eco Club of Debraj Roy College Golaghat National Science Day was observed today at Debraj Roy College in Golaghat. A program was held on the occasion.  The purpose of the program was delivered by NCC Official and professor of Botany Anima Kutum.  A special speech on the occasion was delivered by Assistant Professor of Chemistry at DR College Golaghat Dr Ramen Chutia.  The program was anchored by Assam Science Society member and Eco Club member Sarat Chetia. A on the spot essay competition was organized to mark the occasion.  The competition was conducted by Porishmita Hazarika,  Chayanika Chetia,  Ishani Saikia and Priyankhi Borgohain.  The essay competition was held on the topic of this year's National Science Day theme " Future of STI : Impacts on Education,  Skills and Work ". In the competition first position was bagged by Tulika Gogoi from DR College Golaghat,  second position was bagged by Raj Goswami from Reliance College Junior Golaghat while Dipsikha Dutta from DR College Golaghat abled to secure third position.  Co ordinator of Assam Science Society Golaghat Branch and Eco Club Dr Pabitra Chutia appreciated the students for their active participation and stated it to be a good sign.

Vishwa Dharma Chetna Manch and Sri Brahmarishi Ashram Ramapuram Tirupathy is jointly organizing a free yoga and naturopathy health camp at Maheswari Bhawan in Golaghat Sunday. The Golaghat District Sports Association will organize an inter district swimming competition on November 7 and 8. Talking to Assam Times, the organization’s general secretary Sanjib Handique said that two days event is slated to take place at the local swimming pool in Golaghat. He said that at organizing committee has been formed to host the event.
The Golaghat district administration on Tuesday asked the tea garden managements to clear the bonus to the workers by October 5. Deputy Commissioner Anarul Haque on Tuesday issued the order after a meeting with the various tea group owners. He ordered the owners to discuss the bonus amount with the workers to resolve the issue amicably.

The Assam College Teachers' Association (ACTA)'s Golaghat Zone Women Cell in association with Golaghat Commerce College have jointly organised a Group Discussion Competition at Golaghat Commerce College on Saturday. The people in a huge area of Golaghat district on Sunday are all set to revive the real contribution of a forgotten hero whose name is missing in the history because of the conspicuous ignorance of the local historians.A gathering at the Jamuguri Public Hall will assess the sacrifice of Birochan Chutia who was killed by the British rulers at Rongpur when he was the station head to be disobeyed the rulers. The local people will commemorate his sacrifice at the function beside releasing a book Chutia's life and workings.
