National Science Day observed in Golaghat

Golaghat,  Feb 28: Under the aegis of Assam Science Society of Branch,  74 Assam Girls (I) Coy NCC and Eco Club of Debraj Roy College Golaghat National Science Day was observed today at Debraj Roy College in Golaghat. A program was held on the occasion.  The purpose of the program was delivered by NCC Official and professor of Botany Anima Kutum.  A special speech on the occasion was delivered by Assistant Professor of Chemistry at DR College Golaghat Dr Ramen Chutia.  The program was anchored by Assam Science Society member and Eco Club member Sarat Chetia. A on the spot essay competition was organized to mark the occasion.  The competition was conducted by Porishmita Hazarika,  Chayanika Chetia,  Ishani Saikia and Priyankhi Borgohain.  The essay competition was held on the topic of this year's National Science Day theme " Future of STI : Impacts on Education,  Skills and Work ". In the competition first position was bagged by Tulika Gogoi from DR College Golaghat,  second position was bagged by Raj Goswami from Reliance College Junior Golaghat while Dipsikha Dutta from DR College Golaghat abled to secure third position.  Co ordinator of Assam Science Society Golaghat Branch and Eco Club Dr Pabitra Chutia appreciated the students for their active participation and stated it to be a good sign.

Blood Donation Day was observed in Golaghat on Thursday along with other parts of the country. Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat took out an awareness rally which was inaugurated by superintendent Dr Nizra Devi. Dr Jayant Borgohain also spoke on the occasion.
Police claimed to have caught a dreaded Maoist leader who has been trying to expand the base for the last couple of years.  Identified as Aditya Bora he was arrested by Golaghat police on Wednesday evening.According to police, he was arrested during a combing operation on Wednesday night led by additional SP Numal Mahato at Khakondguri area near Dergaon.Aditya Bora was caught along with his two of his associates Uttam Hazarika and Binando Bora. Police recovered one 9mm pistol, 12rounds of live cartridges and some other particles from their possession.
The Golaghat police nabbed two persons from Furkating Rail station after recovering ganja from their possession on Wednesday night. Identified as Vijay Chetri and Ganesh Pandey, the duo were carrying ganja worth Rs 3 lakh from Manipur to Arunachal Pradesh. They confessed to have bought ganja from a Kuki villages in Manipur to be supplied to other parts of region.
Hundreds of AASU leaders and workers hit the streets in Golaghat on Wednesday in protest against the Centre’s move to give shelter to the non Muslim refugees from Bangladesh and Pakistan.Later they held a huge rally at the General Field premises where around 10,000 students vowed to fight the decision. AASU adviser Dr. Samujjwal Bhattacharya, President Dipankar Nath, General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi joined the mass rally and asked the Centre not to proceed with the deal.  
AASU adviser Dr. Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya finally cleared his position two days after Tapan Gogoi and Shankar Prasad Ray joined BJP. Talking to reporters in Golaghat on Wednesday, the adviser said joining active politics is a personal thing and that he has hardly anything to do. “The duo join BJP after their tremendous contribution for AASU. But I personally can say that AASU will never compromise the greater interest of Assam and its people,” said Dr Bhattacharya.   
KKBB Alumini members are organizing the first KKBB Alumni Association School Meet on October 3 from 11 in the morning.Principal delivered the welcome address followed by introduction of KKBB alumni. Motivation and inspirational lectures will take place on passion and profession, teacher and student, relationship mistakes. A special program on memory of old days will be organised and a musical event by students of class 10.
