Jongal Balahu divas on Jan 3

RAHA: All Tiwa Students Union ( ATSU), All Tiwa Women's Union (ATWU), and Tiwa Cultural Society (TCS) under the sponsorship of Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) are going to celebrate Jongal Balahu Divas on January 3 next in honour of the great Tiwa King Jongal Balahu to commemorate his long-term bravery and brave day.

The event will begin with a ceremonial function by the Tiwa community of people in memory of King Jongal Balahu at 8.30 a.m., followed by Vanti Prajyalan at 8.45 a.m. by Tanuram Konwar, retired head teacher and adviser Jongal Balahu divas celebration committee.

Madan Bordoloi, chairman of Tiwa Autonomous Council, will inaugurate the main gate of the event, followed by hoisting of flags of Tiwa organisations  by  Mungsa Dipak Amsang, president, ATSU, Jonalee Mithi, president, ATWU and Phukan Karjyaa , president, Tiwa Cultural Society respectively. 

King Jongal Balahu name plate will be inaugurated by Narayan Radu Kakati, former EM of TAC, which will be followed by the opening of an exhibition by Hemanta Kumar Dewri, director, Finance and Govt. of Assam. Sculptor Biren Singh, the artist behind the Jongal Balahu statue, will also be felicitated at the event.

The open meeting at 12.30 will be inaugurated by Jiban Chandra Konwar, CEM, TAC and chaired by Dipak Amsang, Jonalee Mithi and Phukan Karjyaa.

A memorial book titled ' Jongal Balahu ' will be released by noted Tiwa literateur Moneswar Dewri. 

Dr. Ronuj Pegu, Minister of Education, Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward classes and Rimal Amsi, Chief Adviser, ATSU, President, All Assam Tribal Youth League will take part in the function as Chief Guest and Key Note Speaker respectively.

Pijush Hazarika , minister , water resources, Tuliram Ronghang , CEM ,Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council ( KAAC ) , Ramakanta Dewri , MLA , Morigaon will attend the programme as respected guests while Deepi Rekha Kouli  , Director of Archaeology , Assam , Lalsing Modar , president, Tiwa Sahitya Sabha , Aditya Khakhlaree , secretary , All Assam Tribal Sangha ( AATS ) , and Mileswar Patar , noted Tiwa litterateur will be present as distinguished guests at the event. Similarly, Tiwa kings from different Tiwa kingdoms in Nagaon and Morigaon districts will grace the function as invited guests. 

The Jongal Balahu Divas Celebration Committee has appealed to all, regardless of caste, community and religion, to be present at the event venue at J.B.garh to make the event successful.

Nagaon: The Nagaon police today apprehended a snatcher from Bhakatgaon bazar.    Identified as Bilal Uddin of Silongoni village , the apprehended person was involved in a snatching case under Sadar P S.    One hand made pistol was also recovered from the possession of the accused. Nagaon: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday announced a state-wide effigy burning protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the announcement of not declaring Assam flood as a ‘national issue’. Nagaon: A Guwahati based truck driver and his wife have been arrested for reporting a fake truck hijacking case at the Raha police station , police said here on Sunday. Nagaon: The Chief Judicial Magistrate court Nagaon declared two witness namely Numal Basumatari and Ujjal Mesh of Abhi Neel case as hostile.
