Gift to a father

Age is just a number for those who are young with their minds and thoughts. Giridhar Mahanta, Father of  Bollywood actor Urmila Mahanta is one of those personalities. 

He turns 75th today. But at this age  his energy and passion can beat any young. During the Covid lockdown Giridhar Mahanta , a retired Government Senior Officer as well as renown social worker has been kept himself busy with his pen  to express his feelings through poetic words. 

Mahanta wrote poems and took inspiration from his surroundings that gets  expressed in the form of poem. He has been associated with Axom Sahitya Sabha for many years. 

His daughter  Urmila Mahanta released a video today on his birthday and gifted her father with an unique way. She sort-listed 5 of his poems and get them recited by her fellow artist from industry namely Boloram Das, Arif Ali, Mahendra Das, Dhiraj Kumar and she herself and present with appealing  visuals . This is her first tryst  with editing and she did real good job : while sharing her feelings she says “ this is the first time I edited something , am so glad that my friends and family like it , it gives me confidence to try it further in coming days ‘ 

Actor Urmila Mahanta further ads “ it was the secret plan that my entire family was involved for last 2 months , we all siblings are blessed to have such liberal father and we wanted to gift him something special on his 75th Bday , hope he will like it and enjoy it “ 

The presented  5 poems are as follows: Poem “Bibartan” is Recited by Urmila herself, whereas “Moi Bor luite koisu” recited  by Mahendra Das. Contemporary Poem “Corona” recored  by popular VO artist Arif Ali and “Bhabana Expressor Jatri “ is recited  by Dhiraj Kumar. In addition to that Urmila’s friend cum Bollywood actor Boloram Das recited the last one namely “Sei Bidhanshi Jui Kura”

On this special occasion Urmila Mahanta says , " I wish you a very happy birthday deuta . I wish you a healthy and longer life. We have a special surprise plan for your birthday where your written poems are released in video form ,which are done by me for the first time . I hope you will like it and also the public at large . You have been a role model for us and at last I wish you again a very happy birthday from our whole family."

Dr Bhagawan Goswami’s body was recovered in Panbazar nine days after the Cotton College professor went missing from Chandmari in Guwahati. His body was spotted floating on the river Brahmaputra just behind the Deputy Commission’s old residence in the afternoon. Assam state BJP called the dissidence against chief minister Tarun Gogoi a drama to cover up the failure on all fronts.Talking to reporters in Guwahati on Sunday, state party president Sarbananda Sonowal said that the growing dissidence was nothing but a drama required by the government to cover up the misdeeds and multiple failures.   He said that these drama would have little impact on the people.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Sunday dared Dinesh Prasad Goala to make public the copy of a resolution brought against him in the last special CLP meeting in Dispur.Gogoi made the open challenge a day after the former minister openly revolted against the chief minister alleging simmering discontent within the party legislators.But Gogoi told the reporters that the special CLP meeting never brought any no-trust motion against him. The CLP meet on October 19 in Dispur resolved to mend the dissidence and pledged to unitedly fight the upcoming general polls to ensure 12 seats out of 14.

Assam state BJP on Sunday alleged a nefarious Congress conspiracy to foil the Narendra Modi’s rally in February.Talking to reporters in Guwahati in the afternoon, state party president Sarbananda Sonowal said that the Assam Government was preparing to hold the teacher eligibility test on the day of Narendra Modi’s rally. “its nothing but a conspiracy to foil the Modi rally in Guwahati,,” Sonowal said. An irate mob in Golaghat killed a leopard after the animal attacked six person at a tea garden on Sunday. The incident took place at Jalan Tea Estate in the morning when the full grown leopard suddenly pounded on a garden worker as he was walking at around 6 in the morning. Then the animal managed to sneak into the tea estate injured six persons in six different incidents of attack during two hours. Then the local residents-----mostly the tea garden workers chased the leopard and was beaten to death. Forest officials reached the spot only after the leopard died in the mob attack. All the six injured people are battling for life in the Jorhat Medical College Hospital.
