Silchar: Tension is escalating along the Assam-Mizoram border after a group of miscreants from the neighbouring north eastern state pounded on a section of people in the territory of Assam.
The incident took place suddenly at Lailapur area in Cachar district when a group of Mizo miscreants started indiscriminate firing in the area terrorizing the people of Assam.
Then some of the miscreants started setting afire as many as ten big and small business establishments owned by the people of Assam.
A team of Assam Police and central para military force arrived in the spot and disposed the miscreants and it took several hours for the Mizoram police to reach the spot.
Now heavy presence of security forces has been trying to deescalate tension and more forces are being deployed in the area. Top police and civil officers from both the states are set to meet on Monday to take the situation under control.
The Mizoram government has been allegedly occupying the place which belongs to Assam and at times the miscreants keep threatening the local residents along the inter state border.

The incident did not take place "suddenly", it took place AFTER miscreants from Assam escorted by the police came over, burned farms and farmhouses and injured a Mizo using a machete.
The terrorization is coming from Assam and it's forces. Mizoram is defending.
Do not portray this defence as an aggression.

Kamrup district administration on Monday prohibited the sale of Assamese attires made of genuine Assam Silk and imported Benarasi silk in the same shop from Monday in the district.The order was notified by Deputy Commissioner S K Roy under Section 144 of the CrPC. Normalcy prevails in Sualkuchi where curfew was relaxed for ten hours on Monday. The district administration relaxed curfew from 5 in the morning. Security forces killed a GNLA militant at an encounter in Goalpara district on Sunday.According to police, the two GNLA cadres, riding a bike, fired at the security when they were intercepted by the team on a road in Khashi Ghaghra. One GNLA militant Khowak Marak was killed and his associate Niksrang Sangma injured. Sangma was rushed to the Guwahati Medical College. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Sunday took stock of the situation in Sualkuchi from district deputy commissioner S K Roy. The indefinite curfew was reclamped in Sualkuchi on Sunday a day after clashes between the protestors and the security personnel that left at least seven people injured.People in the silk town confined to their homes whereas army flagmarch continued.
