Earthquake prediction creates ,social media abuzz
Guwahati: A Facebook post just before 7 hours of massive earthquake which jolted Assam and some NE states is doing rounds in the social media, According to reports Sasanka Talukdar, a budding journalist of Pathsala in Bajali district of Assam had posted in his Facebook account on Wednesday (April 28) "Earthquake Aaayga"(sic) which have garnered 189 shares in Facebook . "There are scientific phenomenos before it happens I anticipated it after 11 pm. Sometimes heat gas like water vapor comes out from the soil and there also seems that the oxygen level decreases."
Brand Ambassador of Forest and Environment department of Assam, Ananda Khataniiyar said, "As I work towards conservation of flora and fauna I observed Sasanka's inquisitiveness and his keen observation of flora and fauna perhaps he had made certain observations before such predictions." "He also helped me a lot in Environment awareness programme including plantation drives." He added.
Assamese Actor Rajkumar Talukdar, said, "Sasanka has always been unique in his journalistic endeavours as he does background study while preparing news reports,so I think he has some kind of sixth sense as he often makes wild predictions even in cricket matches which turns out to be true.
Pertinently, Talukdar is a journalist with an English Daily, and also reports for a regional English satellite channel

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
