Assam Congress topgun,Ripun Bora steps down

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President and Congress top gun ,Ripun Bora has stepped down from his post and resigned from the top post owning responsibility for the party’s debacle in the assembly election. Following the party’s poor show, Bora dashed off a letter to All India Congress Committee(AICC) President Sonia Gandhi tendering his resignation. The Congress leader tumbled down and lost from the Gohpur seat to BJP’s Utpal Borah by a margin of over 29,000 votes. “I do hereby tender my resignation from the post of president, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, owning the responsibility of the humiliating defeat of my party in the Assam assembly election 2021,” Bora wrote in his letter. “I am extremely saddened and disheartened that despite my immense hard work we were unable to combat the divisive and communal politics played by BJP and RSS,” he added. A copy of the letter was also sent to AICC General Secretary,Jitendra Singh.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
