144 CrPC promulgated in Udalguri

UDALGURI: In a bid to maintain normalncy,peace and tranquility in purview of the complete draft publication of NRC and forthcoming 72nd Independence day celebration,to thwart the nefarious attempts of rumour mongers and restrict the movement of insurgents along the Indo-Bhutan and Assam-Arunachal border.The Udalguri District Magistrate Dilip Kumar Das has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC in the entire district with immediate effect on Sunday,prohibiting assembly of more than five people in public place, carrying and display of firearms or lethal weapons,wall writing or fixing of posters,pillion riding in motorbikes and use of loudspeakers. However,judicial officers,executive magistrates,police personnel, army and paramilitary forces,medical officers and any person to whom permission is accorded from the Udalguri District administration are exempted from the purview of this order.Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC are usually promulgated when there is an apprehension of a law and order situation

A team of Assam Police of Kalaigaon Police station led by Sub-Inspector Dhiren Borah recovered a stolen bike from Tangla town on January 3 last. The bike was stolen from Kalaigaon weekly market area on December 13. The owner of the stolen bike is Tapan Das, a resident of village Bhehguri. The police said that the stolen bike bearing registration number AS-13B 5591 was recovered on Sunday evening and two bike lifters were also arrested from Tangla. They have been identified as Dhanjyoti Deka , son of Gajen Deka, and Rajkumar Barman, son of Nripen Barman. Kalaigaon police have registered a case 239/15 under IPC 379 and forwarded the bike lifters to Udalguri district Jail.
The 4th Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival will be held from January 20-23 at Bhairabkunda a beautiful picnic spot on the foothills of Indo-Bhutan border. All BTC Modern song competition is being organized by Khagrabari Sports Association of Udalguri Khagrabari Janta High School playground with a four-day programme from January 6 to January 9. A total of twenty competitors,five from each of the  BTAD districts,will take part in the competition.The competitors can also sing modern songs of various languages. A team of experts will judge and select three of twenty competitors as winner and first and second runners-up .
There occurred a road accident in  between Kendukona and Baihata on Sunday at about 11.15 pm. A Mini-pickup van( ASO1-EC9015) collided with a standing Ultra Super bus (AS14-C 5399).The pickup van with the driver and his co-assistant were in peak speed and they lost control and rammed into the standing bus. Fortunately the driver didn't received a single scratch. The local public and commuters should be lauded for their efforts in hrlping the driver to get out of the damaged Van.No injury or casualities of life was reported.

Christmas - the festival of peace and joy was celebrated with great enthusiasm in  Tangla along with rest of the world. Midnight masses in the churches marked the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas Eve. In the Don Bosco Catholic church midnight prayers were led by Fr. Xebier Tete,Fr. Sebastian and Fr. Arvind Kailash. Milad-un-Nabi the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, the founder of Islam, was celebrated here today by the followers of Prophet at Tangla. Mass prayers for peace and prosperity were held in the two masjids of the town namely Bara Masjid and Banseria Masjid. Jikirs and hymns were recited. Mass feasting was also organised.
