10 days training for paramilitary force

The combined 10-day Annual National Cadet Corps (NCC) Training Camp was held under the aegis of the 16th Bengal Battalion at Salesian College Siliguri from 16th to 25th September 2021. 

As many as 400 NCC cadets from 10 colleges from in and around Siliguri participated.

Camp activities included drills, weapons training, map reading and various team-building exercises along with social activities. 

28 Cadets from Salesian College participated in the camp along with Salesian College NCC Coordinator Lt Risha Chettri.

The Cadets followed their daily schedule which included doing morning meditation, morning and evening drills, studying subjects from the armed forces as well as social subjects, and playing games.

From September 21st, the Cadets were sent in batches to the firing range for weapon firing practice. 

The campers had a gala cultural evening on September 24th with Commanding officer Colonel Balraj Gurung and Salesian College Vice Principals Fr. C.M. Paul (Science) and Fr. P.T. Saju (Arts) as guests of honour.

In the prize distribution, Salesian College NCC Company bagged the champions trophy.

Varsity helps girls learn skills to be self-reliant

University departments in northeast India have ventured into job-oriented training program for educated unemployed youth of its neighbourhood. A group of Mass Communication students doing courses in radio production and development communication found that community radio has power to create awareness in the community for change. Motivated by their teachers, they explored the needs of neighbourhood communities and came up with radio magazine shows to highlight some of the social issues that vexed the villagers. A university community in northeast India has become a trend setter in offering development communication services when its students of the Schools of Technology and Social Sciences decided to reach out to its neighbourhod communities. A group of university students discussed Media, Culture and Society in the context of current national media scenario at Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) Azara campus. Assam students shining in Bangkok

Two students from Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) have brought no less pride for the state when they presented their research proposals at Bangkok University Center of Research in Optoelectronics, Communications and Control Systems (BU-CROCCS) in Thailand recently.
