Youth Shot Dead at Dhupdhara

A 27 years old youth was found dead at Landakhunda village, bordering Assam-Meghalaya, under Dhupdhara police station in Goalpara district early in the morning today. The youth was shot dead by unidentified gunmen as two marks of bullet holes on his chest. The body was found lying on a village road with both of his hands were tightened with his own shirt. Later, the
deceased youth was identified as Dipankar Rabha of the same village. Family sources said that on Tuesday afternoon, Dipankar went to Rangjuli but when he returned to the village in the evening he did not arrived at the house where he was living with his wife. Later, in the night, villagers heard of bullet shots somewhere in the village. It may be noted here that the
incident took place in the same village where three kilos of powerful IED was recovered and arrested two ULFA linkmen in a joint search operation launched by Guwahati and Goalpara police on Sunday. Meanwhile, some of the villagers suspect ULFA behind the killing as the youth might have worked as an informer of security forces. It may also be noted here that a hard-core
member of the Ulfa's anti-talk faction was killed during a gun battle with the army and the police in the same area on April 8 last.
