Rani Narah: Crisis in Congress deepens

The rift within Assam Congress has further widened as five MLAs have threatened to resign in protest against party ticket for former MP Ranee Narah from Lakhimpur. The crisis came up minutes after the AICC poll panel cleared the name of
Narah as candidate from Lakhimpur after a series of crucial meeting.

These MLAs are Rajib Lochan Pegu from Majuli, Dhemaji MLA Sumitra Patir, Sadiya MLA Balin Chetia, Lakhimpur MLA Ghana Buragohain and Raju Sahu from Chabua. The last one to join them is Naoboicha MLA Sanjay Raj Subba. According to information, they would move the party high command to oppose the decision.
