Policeman kills youth Cong leader

The Tinsukia police are in a damage repairing mood a day after a drunken constable shot dead a youth Congress leader inside a police station on Tuesday.

Hours after the public outrage and vociferous protest by the local residents, top police officials visited the victim Kartik Das’ bereaved family members.

A top police official on Wednesday assured Kartik’s elder sister of a job at the Guijan police station where the bizarre incident took place----the Lakhimpur district youth Congress president was shot dead when he moved the Guijan police station to lodge a complaint.

Local residents in large number raided the police station and demanded exemplary punishment for the policeman who shot Kartik dead after he was told to sit in a chair.
