Phukan to move HC

Stung by a barrage of criticism and allegations over his role in the Rajaya Sabha polls, BJP MLA Prasanta Phukan on Sunday decided to move the High Court seeking judicial intervention.

Phukan said that he would approach the Gauhati High Court on Monday seeking probe into the allegations of indirect help to ensure the victory of the ruling Congress.

He asserted that no ballot paper from the BJP legislators stood cancelled and that an impartial probe would unearth the truth.             

It is alleged that Phukan, a close associate of education minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma intentionally got his ballot paper cancelled to ensure the defeat of Haidor Hussain.
