‘No’ to police custody; jail for Kamal

A lower court in Guwahati has remanded Kamal Medhi to judicial custody after the KMSS general secretary was produced before it on Monday.

He was produced before it when the Kamrup chief judicial magistrate took up a petition moved by police seeking Medhi in their custody in connection with the Pranab Boro self immolation case where he was allegedly involved.

Police arrested Medhi when he was on the way to surrender after the Supreme Court quashed his anticipatory bail.
